Exhibiting its global impact in the medical fraternity, in pursuance of its pristine objectives, associating its stature with the global bodies in the world, International Medical Sciences Academy today stands as copartner with The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow, United Kingdom to establish jointly its Continuing Medical Education programmes worldwide.

The two Societies have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding this October 2013 and agreed to work together in connection with the organization and facilitation of research, study courses, conferences and lectures in matters relating to different health sciences and health care systems of the world. It is agreed that the two Societies shall work together in establishing and maintaining effective collaboration with other organizations similar to one or both of Royal College or IMSA across the world.

It is an excellent opportunity to express our emotions on the vibrancy of the IMSA Culture.

3rd Year Dr R R Thukral Midterm IMSA Conference 2016, Ludhiana, Punjab, India: April 23, 2016. International Medical Sciences Academy in association with IMSA Punjab Chapter organize 3rd Year Dr R R Thukral Midterm IMSA Conference 2016, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana, Punjab.

Theme of the Conference: Prioritizing Health Care.

Setting priorities

Knowing what we don’t know is also important. It is a priority of today to identify scientific uncertainties in health care. One objective is to alert researchers to the scientific uncertainties, identify where further research is most needed. Another objective is to provide health services with evidence for setting priorities. It is pertinent to prioritize within the greater context of the changes and trends globally today, as health care moves ever closer to processes for systematically setting priorities and rationing services.

It is a problematic concept in medical ethics; it’s also a reality. These debates would raise “unanswerable questions of equity” and inequity, however access to a basic level of care must be universal. A “basic” level of care must be defined through a public process

There is no magic formula for prioritizing and deciding which operating units of a health system gets priority.

If we want more evidence-based practice, we need more practice-based evidence.

Completing the community health needs assessment and prioritization: What are social determinants of health?

Ludhiana: Historical Background

Ludhiana city was founded in the time of Lodhi dynasty which ruled in Delhi from 1451-1526 A.D. The legend goes that two Lodhi Chief Yusuf Khan and Nihand Khan were deputed by Sikandar Lodhi (1489-1517 A.D.) to restore order in this region. They camped at the site of present city of Ludhiana which was then a village called Mir Hota. Yusuf Khan went across the river Sutlej in Jalandhar Doab to check Khokhars who were plundering the Doab and made a settlement at Sultanpur while Nihand Khan stayed back and founded the present city at the site of village Mir Hota. The new town was originally known as Lodhi-ana, which means the town of Lodi's. The name later changed to the present name Ludhiana.
