Journal JIMSA [ISSN: Print 0971-071X in year 1987] is the peer-reviewed official publication of International Medical Sciences Academy. Its contents focus on editorial, original research work, update/review articles belonging to different disciplines of medicine; symposia and special issues on topics of current interest are a regular feature The JIMSA is an all-encompassing peer-reviewed quarterly journal. Journal is supplied free of cost to all Fellows and Members.

The objectives of the journal are to provide a forum to the specialists (Fellows/Non-Fellows) belonging to different disciplines of medical sciences, to project their original work/interesting case material and share their experience through comprehensive reviews/updates, symposia, special numbers/supplements etc. The multi-disciplinary approach adopted by the journal is rather unique and has led to expanded scope and wider circulation.

JIMSA is a multi-disciplinary journal indexed with EMBASE, IndMED-Database, NLM ID: 9425946 (Serial), Me SH: Clinical Medicine, Excerpta Medica, Google Scholar, and Indian Science Abstracts.

Publication Fee

JIMSA does not charge authors any fee for article processing or final publication. However, cost of colour illustrations and reprints are chargeable to authors

Scope of the journal

The JIMSA is an all-encompassing peer-reviewed quarterly journal. JIMSA aims to promote interdisciplinary dialogue in the field of medical science. Manuscripts pertinent to health care, medical research, medical education, and health policies will be considered for publication in this journal. Articles in various formats such as original articles, review articles, case reports, debates, clinical images, letters to the editor, hypothesis, technical innovations, viewpoints, and grand rounds. Occasionally poetry related to Medicine, historical vignettes and obituaries of IMSA members as well as prominent scientists will be considered for publication. News items pertinent to IMSA as well as important medical news will also be published. Although Editorials are Editor’s prerogative, concisely written thought provoking short essays submitted by readers will be considered under invited editorials.

Broad coverage of the journal

Special Issues published so far are Nephrology, HIV/AIDS, Pulmonology, Advances in Cardiovascular Surgery, Advances in Orthopaedic Surgery, Emerging and Re-Emerging Parasitic Infestations in India, Advances in Imaging, Minimal Access Surgery Rheumatology, Dialysis Therapy Old and New; Recent Advances in the management of oral cancer. State of Art in Opthalmic Practice, Others in the pipeline are Health of Nation, Advances in Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Disease Practice, Interventional Cardiology, Environmental Pollution and Advances in Radiation Oncology, Ischemic stroke.

Symposia already published include Osteoporosis, Age-Related Disorders Diabetes Mellitus - New Horizon, In Vitro Fertilization, Erythropoietin and Renal Failure, Antiboitics in Surgical Prophylaxis, Hypertension & Target Organs, Emergencies in Opthalmology, Advances in Medical Oncology. The Guest Editors of Special issues and symposia are eminent medical teachers, professionals who are experts in their fields.

The topics covered in the Scientific Editorials have so far included HIV and tuberculosis: Thalassemia Major, Stereotaxy in neurosurgery, Role of Helicobacter pylori. Hepatitis, E-Virus, Xerophthalmias, Female Infertility: Strides in Opthalmology.

Therapy Update focuses on the latest therapeutic advances and future trends, already published include Cardioprotectants: Anti-retroviral Therapy: Resistant Schizophrenia, Asthma Therapy. Drug profiles (New Introduction) and literature reviews (latest references) contributed by members of the editorial board are regularly published.

Contents of the journal except advertisements are protected under Indian and International copyrights. No part of the journal shall be reproduced or transmitted in any form or by any means including electronic, mechanical, photocopying and microfilm without prior permission from the Editor-inchief. However, individual researchers, medical students and practicing doctors are permitted to photocopy or print single articles for non-profit activities such as teaching, research and health education provided the number of copies do not exceed 5.

Plagiarism of any kind will be viewed seriously and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken. Authors are advised to be wary of inadvertent plagiarism by copy-pasting of texts from internet or other source. Paraphrasing is recommended to avoid unnecessary accusation. All the submitted manuscripts for publication are checked for plagiarism using plagiarism software after submission and before starting review.
