Opening of the article

Radiotherapy is an important treatment modality in the management of several brain tumours, resulting in good to excellent long-term survival rates in a majority of childhood tumours and in adults with benign tumours. Conventional radiation therapy to a majority of brain tumours involves 2-3 static open beams with simple coplanar field arrangement, which may however lead to irradiation of significant volumes of normal brain and adjacent critical structures. Last few years have seen a tremendous refinement in the techniques of radiation planning and delivery.
