Accidental poisoning is a world wide problem in children in the age group -5 years. Most pediatric poisoning is accidental and less than 1% is clinically serious. Majority of accidental poisoning is due to ingestion of non-toxic substances and only reassurance is needed. Only minority of poisoning in children are clinically serious requiring prompt attention.
