This study was conducted to identify and analyze the factors determining conversion of laparoscopic cholecystectomy to open cholecystectomy and formulate some guidelines to prevent complications by rectifying the factors. This would reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with this procedure and would make laparoscopic cholecystectomy a safe procedure. In addition, this will help the surgeons to prepare the patient psychologically, arrange operating schedule accordingly, ensure the availability of a more experienced laparoscopic surgeon for the procedure and the patient will have a chance to make the necessary arrangements regarding their work and family.
