The bone content is the percentage of bone mineral as compared to total body weight. The average bone content for adults is 3-5% . This measurement is good for keeping track over a long period as bone mass can decline slowly with age. The bone mass is the common technique to measure bone mineral density (BMD). Hitherto the gold standard in the diagnosis of BMD is DEXA. Other modalities available are CT, USG, and MR. A comparative study of all modalities and their merits and demerits each has got its own. Here we made an attempt to diagnose the bone mineral status from an already available chest X-ray which had been taken for some other purpose.
