Opening of the article

Intestinal perforation is one of the commonest surgical emergencies encountered by the Indian surgeons. Most of the gastrointestinal perforations are diagnosed by plain abdominal radiograph showing air under diaphragm sign or rarely a computed tomography (CT) scan of the abdomen showing pneumoperitoneum. Some cases do not present with these typical radiological features. Here we are discussing an interesting case of a ruptured liver abscess, in which, laparotomy revealed an ileal perforation along with the liver abscess though X-ray Chest and CECT failed to diagnose it.
