Opening of the article

The term pneumoperitoneum is used to describe the presence of free gas within the peritoneal cavity. Most of the cases are due to hollow viscus perforation. Ruptured liver abscess is one of the rare conditions that can mimic pneumoperitoneum. Thorough clinical examination and radiological investigations helps in diagnosing liver abscess. Emergency exploratory laparotomy with lavage is important for early control and resolution of abscess especially, if it is ruptured. We hereby present a case of a 60 year old man with complaints of pain abdomen and vomiting since 1 week with presence of right sided subdiaphragmatic free air in an erect chest X-Ray.
