Background: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is one of the most commonly performed laparoscopic surgeries all over the world. Various methods have been employed for the ligation of cystic artery during surgery. Two most commonly used methods are liga clips and harmonic scalpel. Both the methods have their advantages and disadvantages. In our study we compare these two methods. Results: The mean operative time in liga clip group was 43±6.89 minutes and in harmonic group was 31±3.70 minutes. Conclusion: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy performed with the harmonic scalpel is feasible and effective, with the operating time being significantly less.
