Opening of the article

Background: Inguinal Hernioplasty is a commonly done operation all over the world. Several techniques are available for inguinal hernia repair. The effectiveness of the repairs are judged mainly by the recurrence rate and other postoperative complications like inguinodynia. Lichtenstein tension free mesh repair of hernia has been the gold standard of hernia surgery with least recurrence rate. Laparoscopic repair has emerged as an alternative, which reduces recurrence rates and provides faster recovery. Fixation of the mesh in the pre peritoneal space is a critical and a challenging step in the laparoscopic approach.
